General John F Hartfranft of Norristown, Pa had a distinguished combat command record and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. An original Civil War Union Army Furlough for Sergeant George W Augenbaugh, York, Pa , 200th Pa Infantry, listed as a Teacher by Profession, issued Jan 28, 1865, approved on reverse by lt Colonel William HH McCall as 200th Pa Commander (postwar a noted Prescott, Arizona Territory Deputy Marshal, also on reverse signed and \"Disapproved\" by John Hartranft as Brigadier General Commanding the Division, 9th Army Corps, noting the sergeant\'s company is already short by 2 noncoms. The reverse is also sgd by Colonel Charles W Diven and on front by Lt Charles Buffington, 200th PV. Both Colonels Diven & McCall commanded the 200th PVI and were brevetted brigadier generals for combat leadership. The 1p 8 x 11\" ptd furlough has edge wear, age stains, is Overall VG and notable for being signed by 3 generals, all cited for heroism at the Battle of Fort Stedman, March 1865.
