Brass 1909 - 1915 Western Electric No. 11-A Message Register

Decal on side lists 4 patent dates (1905, 1906, 1914, and 1915). The base is cast and the cabinet is thick brass. 1 3/4” x 2” raised - letter plateriveted to the top is traditional like those seen on early payphones and says: “Do Not Push Button if line is in Use. To Call, Push Button. Notify Operator if you do Not obtain number called”. The older curved - magnetcoils - unit as found in the early 1900’s. A wiring diagram is originally pasted inside and is very nice! A spring-loaded “plunger is on top similar to those on 1950’s Western Electric payphones (and may well have beenon an old Western Electric payphone, this is the only thing Iknow of that is unoriginal). Exceptional finish for item this old. I didn’t research this but looked into two old Western Electric catalogs here (I believeone was #6) with out seeing it. I would expect it to be in a 1908 catalog but I didn’t take time to search. There are four gear driven “wheels” which show through a glass window. Each is numbered 1 through 0. Likelynot many around.
