This original black bakelite box likely dates from the WWII era. It has a Label on the top which reads Astro-Compass Mk II MFG\'s Part No 94, Order No ( 13 42-20419-P) part of this number may be missing, as there is a mark on this line. The W.W. Boes Co. 3001 Salem, Ave, Dayotn, Ohio. The word Dayton has also been damaged.
This box once held an Astro -Compass used in many military airplanes of the period for navigational purposes. The latch and hinge on the front and back are in good condition. The accessory strp is missing, but their are original holes in each of the case sides where it would have been mounted.
Case measures @ 9.5\" long by 4.5\" wide and 5.5\" tall. Weighs @ 2.5 lbs empty.
The interior of the case may have damaged splines that would have been used to hold the instruments, but since I\'ve never seen an intact verions I do not know. There is a nick and hairline fracture in the back of the case extending from under the hinge, but not enough to totally fracture, can be seen under the second set of rivets from the right on the hinge view photo. The case is being sold as is.
