In 1976 Whitechapel foundry in London produced15 full size replicas, 2400 one-fifth replicas and only 200 of these one-ninthreplicas of the Liberty Bell. This is one of the original one-ninth replicas.
I contacted the manufacturer in England andthey told me that this bell is made from Bell Metal, which is a combination ofcopper and tin and then plated with sterling silver. The issue number 438 is onthe base and also stamped on the bell.
The bell works perfectly and has no cracks, breaks or damage (unlike the original bell).
The clapper which is actuated by a blue silkrope has a small nylon plug inserted on the spot that hits the bell-alloriginal. When rung it makes a great tuned musical note.
The condition is really great, there is nopitting on the bells silver plating. The darkness you see in the photo isnormaltarnish on the silver. I did not want to try to polish the bell.
This is an incredible vintage collectable madeabout 40 years ago. I can not find another one like it for sale anywhere.
