Tagliabue Mfg Co Union Colorimeter, Patented 1924. Petrolium/Fuel Quality testing instrument.
You\'ve seen the rest, now get the best! This is the only one of these instruments that I could come across that was nearly complete, the only piece that might be considered missing that I know of is the stoppered vial that is depicted in the patent drawings figure 1 & 2, #17 and I actually have the bottom half of it with the top half broken off. The single spouted vial, fig 1, #16 is present and intact as well as the the two brass and wood test vial covers, fig 3 & 5, #55. The vial covers are placed over the vials/samples being tested to eliminate contamination by external light sources, (the insides are painted black). The blue light filter is also present and in good shape. The instrument appears to be all original with beautiful original finish save for the light bulb socket which is a modern but proper fitting replacement. I looked into finding a vintage socket on and they are readily available.
I believe these instruments were originally made for the Sinclair Oil Co but I\'m sure other oil companies also adopted them.
This instrument measures 28\" long and stands 26\" tall with the color magazine fully extended.
Don\'t miss your chance to get this be beautiful and truly elegant instrument! (Hey, how often can a scientific device be called \"elegant\"?)
