Antique Vintage Cast Iron (CI) Mechanical Bank - RARE Original Artillery Bank For Sale

This rare original antique vintage cast iron mechanical penny bank was called Artillery Bank, Rectangular Trap was patented May 31, 1892, Patent No. 21,594, issued to Charles G. Shepard and Peter Adams on that date. Adams assigned his portion to Walter Shepard. It was produced by the Shepard Hardware Company, Buffalo, NY. It has the traditional rectangular locking coin trap used by Shepard. To operate, pull the hammer down on the mortar. This will move the right arm of the soldier into the horizontal position. Place a coin in the barrel of the mortar. Press the lever located by the letter \"K\" and the soldier\'s arm drops and strikes the firing of the mortar. The hammer snaps up and strikes the coin propelling it into the opening of the building. Paper caps may be used to add sound to the action. Tested, fully functional. Bank seems in excellent condition with no cracks or other repairs but has some rust on the bottom and missing the cover where you remove the coins. Measures approximately 7-7/8\" x 3-3/4\" x 5-3/4\". Rated a #11 in the Penny Lane Book.
