Rare historical marine cane made from ship sunk in Manila Bay during Spanish American War of1898. It was scuttled before the battle with the British Commodore Deweyfamous for his classicallycool-in-combatcommand,\"You may fire when ready Gridley\". Thisis a one of a kind artifact wellover 100 years old.Inscription on the cane\'s accompanying hand crafted shipping case reads, \"Taken from ship built in 1807, the Palma Brava, taken up from Manila Bay by two dredges. Two canes made for Admiral Cartello and T.E.Getchere from Cuirrine. Metal handle from sheet plate metal. Sent to E.E. Carr in 1928 by Walter Michadila, USA Consulate, Cavite, Philippine Islands.\" This extraordinarypiece was shipped to Mr. Carr\'s home in Dexter, Maine in the includedantique wooden case with its original brass hinges and back straps. Original postage stamps show cancellation date of 1928. Cane is 35.5\" long, no bottomferrule, and shaft is made from the ship\'s 200 year old beams made from the Palma Brava tree. In absolutely superb condition. Perfect gift for the serious historical or marine cane collector.
