Greetings,
You are offerding on an antique altar piece of a hand painted porcelain plaque displayed in a gold gilt frame produced by Alphonse Giroux "the merchant of the princes", an important Parisian manufacturer of luxury furniture and accessories, whose products were intended for an aristocratic and bourgeois clientele. The furniture and accessories by Alphonse Giroux vary by the inspirations, true artistic creations of their author, but they are always of a perfect luxury. This gorgeous hand painted plaque depicts a detail after Batalome Esteban Murillo's "Conception of Soult" in the Prado Museum, Madrid.
The plaque is in great condition and contains an impressed symbol/number under the sticker affixed to the back.
There is a bit of wear/marking/smudges commensurate with age to the frame. The frame is marked "Alph Giroux Paris".
Circa mid 19th century.
