Antique Kris Keris Dagger Indonesian Javanese Malayan Knife Carved Grip Superb.

The craftsmanship on the antique Keris knife is superb. The condition isn’t as good but if you inspect how carefully and particularly this piece is made it’s really inspiring. It was made with love of the craft and intention that is for sure. I wish time had been a little kinder to it. It is fresh out of a historic NH barn. There was a collection of probably over 1,000 knives in the estates collection. Many pieces seem to have come back from WWII’s Pacific Theater, this may or may not be one of them. The blade has suffered some corrosion as seen. That said it’s solid and not broken. It could likely be cleaned and sharpened by a competent individual and brought back to glory. The grip is beautiful wood with delicate precise carving. Directly above the grip is a beaded ring with gold gilt. Above the further is what appears to be decoratively embossed low grade silver. Lastly the sheath is masterfully engraved all the way up and down one side with beautiful leaves and vegetation. The base is a exotic wood unknown to me with tiger like striping. The sheath is in very good condition. The wood has come apart from metal on sheath but has been repaired. This is a really great old piece I’d love to see it go to a home that can refurbish it a little. If not at least someone who can appreciate it in its current state as I did.
