This is a beautiful antique daubiere or braising pot. This probably is from the 19th century and would certainly have come from aprofessionalkitchen, probably from the Loire Valley where it was sourced.
Made by a coppersmith who hammered copper into sheets then shaped and joined them with dovetail joints. Very skilled work. The dovetail joints are still visible.
The handle on the daubiere is made of cast iron and is solidly held on with 3 copper rivets.
The handle on the lid is bronze and is also held on with copper rivets.

Excluding the lid and handles, the daubiere measures 12.5\'\' or 32cm by 7\'\' or 18cm and is 6.5\'\' or 16.5cm deep.
It weighs 4.2kg!
The tin lining is in good condition, however this is a tiny spot of copper showing through. The copper is stunning! This is a centuries old piece of history that still has many centuries of life left.
