Antique Folding Knife , Late 1700s, Hawkbill, Wooden Handle, Used. *z For Sale

Here we have an old hawkbill style blade on a pivot-pin with a smooth wooden handle,

American revolutionary era, my best guess is from china , based mostly on the shape and metal ring detail, a sailors knife that maybe traveled the world, cutting rope, skinning fish, scraping things clean, slicing fruits and vegetables for meals. Again, my guess is that this blade came ashore on the east coast in the whaling days , and ended up , much later, here and now. Handle is in great shape with a chip off the pointy end and a couple of old worn blemishes along surface, see photos. Pin is strong and completely intact and secure. Blade is worn , some surface rust and with rough surface from corrosion. It cuts through cardboard as good as most boxcutters would , though this is definitely past its daily use days….blade is right st 2.75 inches long , closed it measures 6.7 inches , fully open it measures 8 3/8ths inches. The loop for a carrying ring or strap is strong and complete.
