Antique Easter 14-inch Rabbit Double Chocolate Candy Mold For Sale

Thishuge metal candy mold stands approximately 14 ¼” in height, 7 ½” in length and5” in width and is made of heavy steel weighing nearly six pounds. It is referred to as a double, or book, moldwhich was used to create three-dimensional chocolate candy figurines. In this case the mold is in the form of astanding Rabbit with a basket over its back.This mold displays nice detailing of the rabbit’s features, fur and thebasket’s woven pattern. Due to itsenormous size this hinged mold features a supportive metal base, several metal bars,and two metal clips for securing its closure.When opened, the interior features a mirror image of the rabbit. This vintage mold is marked by the maker withtwo initials, “J J”, located on the exterior of one of the metal bars. Although I did extensive research I was unableto determine the manufacturing company or production date for this piece. This is a fantastic candy mold that isin good condition with the exception of the following flaws: it is missing the finger handle, there are areasof rust and corrosion of the metal and discolorations on the exterior. The interior is clean. Despite these flaws this is an early and impressivechocolate candy mold that has a nice patina and would make a decorative Easter display piece.
