Stunning Antique Cast Iron Native American Indian Chief Judd Slidding Bookends.

Antique C1910 Judd Mfg. #9819 Cast Iron Native American Indian Extending Bookends - This is an absolutely beautiful. Very rare and very nice all original condition, Judd Manufacturing circa 1910 bookrack or book stand, also called sliding bookends, showing a native american indian chief theme. Clearly marked on the inner part of the bookends with the four digit number beginning with 9, 9819, that was Judd\'s trademark. Judd was the premier maker of bookracks or bookslides, and was out of business by 1929 so it is easy to date their products. This one is exceptionally nice. It measures 12 inches long when at it\'s shortest length and 23 inches long fully extended. It slides in and out to varying lengths on telescoping metal rods. This way it holds varying numbers of books or dvd\'s. And the bookend parts measure 6 and a half inches wide by 6 inches high. The item weighs 4 pounds. It is old cast iron with a gilded bronze finish that is all original and has the antique patina in great shape to prove it. This warrior chief wears an elaborate eagle feather warbonnet or headdress and has a bear claw necklace and decorative cabochons in the headband. He is surrounded by indian or native american symbols in the corners, like a twisting snake or asp, and another symbol in the right hand corner I am not familiar with.
