$299.99

Helloand welcome to Southamerican-Collectibles!

What are you offerding on?

You are offerding on an antique electric PHILIPS Art Deco speaker which I believe is made in Holland but I am not sure. It was designed by Louis Kalff.

Extracted from Wikipedia:

Louis Christiaan Kalff (Amsterdam, November 14, 1897 - Waalre, September 16, 1976) was a Dutch graphic designer. His father was editor-in-chief of the Algemeen Handelsblad. After an HBS degree, Kalff studied at the Artsyardschool Quellinus Amsterdam (now the Rietveld Academy) and at the Technical University in Delft.Between 1925 and 1926, Louis Kalff, together with Jan Hanrath, designed the building of the Delft Student Rowing Association \"Laga\" in the style of the Amsterdam School. In 1925 Louis Kalff was working at the Philips advertising department in Eindhoven. Under its leadership, the Light Advice Office (LIBU) was founded in 1929. He participated in the world exhibitions in Barcelona, Antwerp, Brussels and Paris. Kalff was the designer of the Philips brand. In addition, he designed freelance posters and advertisements for the Holland American Line, Calvé, Zeebad Scheveningen, and Holland Radio. He also designed book tires. At Philips, Kalff also worked as an architect on objects such as: the Dr. A.F. Philips Observatory (1937) in Eindhoven, the Diamantboorderij (1948) in Valkenswaard and some country houses in Eindhoven and Waalre for Philips executives. After the Second World War, Kalff was actively engaged in industrial design at Philips. After his retirement in 1960, Louis Kalff stayed at Philips as a consultant and architect. In 1961 he received the guidance and execution of the Evoluon. It was the last work of the lighting architect who cared for the Philips group for almost 40 years.

Extremely rare model. The bakelite is in perfect condition. Not visible damage. No idea if works or not.

Sold untested as is as a collectible only. No idea how the internal parts looks like or in which condition they are. You can see that there is a lot of dust and seems to be damage to the intenal parts.

The item is suppose to work on 220 volts I believe, so an adapter may be needed depending on the voltage of your country.

Since it is an antique electrical device I recommend you to get advice from a qualified electrician if you plan to plug it to make sure is safe.
