An antique 19th century Chinese practice jian sword (dao saber): $750.00
Anantique Chinese practice jian straight sword, probably late 19th century. Itsblade chiseled on one side with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl, a commonmotif on civilian swords of the late Qing. The blade is further decorated withseven brass dots, representing the Big Dipper, an important constellation inTaoism. The blade has a so-called \"male point\" of triangular shapewith two straight edges leading to the acute point, where the common jian wouldhave two rounded edges leading up to the tip. This is a feature often seen onsmaller Taoist ritual jian. Handle is tight and the brass fittings are in good condition. It retains its originalwire-wrapped scabbard.
