Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an amazing vintage atomic era lamp that was manufactured by the Laurel Lighting Co. Circa 60s. Materials: Brass, Metal. The lamp features a large brass atomic sputnik / starburst as a central accent piece. The lamp has three sockets, and therefore, three-way functionality. One twist will light up one bulb, a second twist will light up the opposite two bulbs, and a third twist will light up all three at once. The on/off rotary knob switch is located on the black metal triangular base at the bottom of the lamp (see photo). The lamp still retains its original Laurel label which is attached to one of the brass socket cups (see photos). This lamp is pretty large insofar as lamps go, and it has a nice solid weight to it. We\'ve come across several Laurel lamps with the same style sputnik accent piece over the years, but never this particular model. It\'s super nice, and will look great in any mid century modern setting! It\'s ready to be enjoyed in a new home!
Measurements: With the round cloth shade attached, the lamp stands an impressive 48\" tall. The finial adds another 3-5/8\". The shade itself measures approx. 18\" tall x 18\" in diameter. The brass metal sputnik /starburst accent measures approx. 9\" in height. The triangular black metal base measures approx. 8\" x 8\" x 8\", and is 6.5\" in height.
Condition: The lamp is in very good condition for its age. The base is free from having any notable issues - there are no chips, cracks, breaks, scratches, dents, dings, rust, oxidation, etc. The brass finial and the brass vertical rod that attaches to the finial (and is not seen because it travels through the center of the shade) have some minor color loss, but nothing objectionable (see photo). The shade is free from rips, holes, tears, burn marks, breaks, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring is in very good condition - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition.As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
