Aletai IIIE-anom 24.61g Etched Iron Meteorite Found in China w/ Troilite Inclusi For Sale

Item for sale is a 24.61g etched partial slice of the Aletai IIIE anomalous iron meteorite which was initially found in China in 1898. Through chemical and petrographic analyses, the Aletai IIIE-an iron meteorite represents multiple masses found in the northern part of the Xinjiang region of China, including Armanty, Akebulake, Wuxilike, Xinjiang (b), Xinjiang 008, and Ulasitai (which now become synonyms for Aletai). The Wuxilike mass was found by a local farmer in a valley in a mountainous region of Aletai County, surrounded by rocks and half buried. A small sample was taken for analysis and heavy machinery was used to move the 5 ton meteorite to the discovererʻs home. John Wasson of UCLA analyzed the meteorite as an anomalous IIIE iron that has the highest Au concentration in the group, with an Ir concentration much higher than inferred through the trend of other group members. The major phases of the meteorite are kamacite, taenite, and plessite. Minor phases include schreibersite, daubréelite, troilite, and haxonite. This beautifully cut and polished partial slice of Aletai meteorite has been etched to reveal its Widmannstatten pattern, along with other inclusions including troilite and schreibersite. This specimen comes in a quality labeled display box for protection and years of viewing pleasure, along with a Big Kahuna Meteorites Certificate of Authenticity.
