Description
This is an antique 1830s-1850s Massachusetts banjo clock most likely made by Aaron Willard or Curtis & Dunning. The clock measures 34 inches in height with the finial, 29.5 inches in height without the finial, 10.25 wide, 3.75 inches in depth, th eface is approx. 7 5/8 inches in diameter. The door on the bottom has a reverse painted tablet with a Lady Liberty in her chariot being pulled by 2 horses titled \"Aurora\". If you do some research you will find the same tablet was used on Aaron Willard banjo clocks , also extremely similar ones used by Curtis & Dunning ( who were Boston area maker of Banjo clocks as well. The clock is missing the glass in the bezel door, the wood on the bottom of the clock has been replaced (probably because teh weight fell thru at one time), teh weight is currently missing. The case has original finish. There is some flaking to the reverse paint on both the bottom door glass and the throat glass but not bad. If i had to guess i would say this is an unsigned Aaron Willard banjo clock.
