Antique theca case 2,7 inches wide by 2 inches high (7cm by 5 cm) which contains a relic of St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153) French monk and abbot, leader in the reform of Benedictine Monasticism that caused the formation of the Cistercian Order. Founder of the Monastery of Clairvaux, Confessor and Doctor of the Church.
Ornate golden brass case decorated on front with fleur lys and flowery filigree patterns and designs, the interior compartment is under glass on a red cloth background with golden metallic cord border trim and decorations. The relic is placed on a backing above the name label which reads " S.Bernard. Ab. ".
The back case cover can be removed to view the red string seals and an official red wax Church seal with Cardinals's hat and stem, all are in place and intact.
Antique relic piece in very good condition with minor signs of wear and age, some small age stains on the backing of the brass case. With hanging hook.
