ANTIQUE JAMES TUFTS BOSTON SILVERPLATE GLASS LID JEWELRY “BIJOUTERIE” BOX CASKETITEM DESCRIPTION:WOW! This is such a beautiful antique box that is perfect for the person who appreciates antique jewelry. This vintage jewelry box/casket is approximately 7” long from handle to handle. The box itself is 5 1/2” long x 4” tall x 3 3/4” deep and is made from quadruple sterling plated metal. It has a very ornate “American Aesthetic” design with gothic arches, houses, mountains, scrolls, and flowers on the outer walls. It is intricately engraved “Bijouterie” and “Gracie” on the front and back and the lid has a beveled clear glass panel. The bottom rim is a bit irregular and there is loss of the silverplated finish. It has it’s original silk lining which is quite worn. It is marked “James Tufts Boston Warranted Quadruple Plate 2543” on the base.
It was quite dark and has been gently polished to show it’s details. It could be polished further but I will leave that to the new owner.
