ANTIQUE FRENCH BRASS CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH PORCELAIN FACE IN ORIGINAL WOOD CASE For Sale

****!!!***The only marking I can find on this piece is \"FRANCE\", stamped under the winding mechanism on the back of the clock. Standing 4 3/4\" tall (with the handle folded down), this is an absolutely awesome antique clock with a heavy brass case, porcelain face, and the original wood travel case. If you are looking at this, you can likely date it but it is definitely an antique and a rarity to find in its original condition and original travel case. The clock alone weighs a bit over 2 pounds, 3 oz. The clock keeps good time and all 5 pieces of beveled glass are perfect. As you can see in one of the photos, there is a small cracked spot in the upper left side of the porcelain face. This is the only damage to the clock that I can find, and this is visible only when looking up from the bottom of the clock.The old key is included, but it is marked \"England\", so probably is not the original.As you can see in the photos, the brass case needs cleaning, but I have done nothing with it. The wood case is fully intact, with the viewing cover on the front, and the glass behind the cover intact. The spring loaded button to open the lid is functional. The velvet lining is intact, with no tears. Obviously, the exterior covering (paper or very thin leather??) on the case is dry and coming off in places. I would love to have this piece in my own home, but it does not belong to me and is probably above my budget. It is clean, and the donor says it has been in a non smoking home for as long as she can recall. This item was donated to our local St. Vincent DePaul and I am selling it for them with all proceeds going to help the needy in our community.
