ANTIQUE Early 1900’s
PAIR of Brass Sconces – Orig Satin Milk Glass Shades
A pair of all
brass sconces from about 1915. They have signed Hubbell fitters and sockets. I stripped off 100 years of paint splatter and gunk and got down the raw brass. I wiped them very lightly with a patina solution
and wiped off immediately.
All brass
pieces are in good shape, and I can see only a couple of miniscule dimples in the back plates. The paddle turn-key sockets
are in excellent working order and the fixtures have been rewired. I have replaced the
rusted inner pipes with a new fully threaded pipes and am including 2 modern brackets that will make them very
easy to install. The bells/back plates are about 5 inches in diameter so they
will easily cover a modern, round electrical box.
The shades are milk glass with a satin finish, and are both in excellent
condition with no chips, cracks, or even any of the typical fitter
nicks. The have a wonderful shape and are craftsman or Arts and Crafts era
design. They look fantastic when lit with Edison bulbs.
The best
part about these is that they are ready to go; all you have to do is mount
them.
DIMENSIONS:
Length from wall to outside of shade: Adjustable up to 9 inches (as shown)
Shades: Standard 2 ¼ inch fitter, 4 3/4 inches tall
Back plate: 5 inches in diameter
