For sale is a wonderful and beautiful table lamp made in the LCT Tiffany Favrile tradition. It is a solid bronze base with a very beautiful art glass shade. The lamp is a nice desk size as it stands 14 3/4\" tall to the top of the finial when the shade is mounted. The bottom of the base is 4 3/4\" in diameter. The art glass shade off the base is 8\" in diameter at the bulge and 4 3/4\" tall to the top flat side.
The base is made of solid bronze with a Tiffany Studios Verdi green brown style patina. It has a Handel lamp style harp with heat cap to hold the shade mounted to the base. This table lamp depicts an art glass shade in the shape of dome with a wave or damascene style pattern. The shade unlit has a blue green gold iridescent color. It is definitely mint and olive green when lit. The inside of the shade is cased in a white opal much like its predecessor Tiffany Studios or Tiffany Favrile. The base is resembles a tree trunk and the combination compliments each other perfectly. The base is quite heavy for its size and the definition of the roots is just splendid.
The lamp base is considered to be in excellent condition. It does shows minor signs of wear. The base has been professionally rewired using the antique brown rayon lamp cord with a period socket with a bell shaped pull chain. I have fully tested this lamp and it works just great. The bell shaped pull chain is reminiscent of the vintage lamps of earlier years. The shade is in great shape as well. There are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The base is unsigned but the art glass shade is signed. The top inside of the shade around the neck less opening is signed in a counter clockwise manner. It is signed with a signature i cannot make out. This is similar to the way LCT Tiffany Favrile signed his shades 90-110 years earlier.
This is a quality art glass table lamp. It would look great in a brownstone or arts and crafts style home. I\'m quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with this table lamp. This base was made in the late 80\'s and the shade in 2017. There is no doubt that this shade was made specifically for this base and is not a marriage!! It fits perfectly.
I recommend using mo more than a 40 watt bulb as this a nice accent lamp. There are vent holes in the top cap to allow the heat toescape. When assembling this lamp, I also recommend that you loosen the screws slightly once the shade is mounted to the fitter to allow for heat expansion with the glass when it gets warm from thelight bulb.
