This is a rare set of 8 vintage Lotus Mid Century "Oil Derrick" glasses from the 60s!
These collins highball glasses feature a deep black oil rig pattern with 22k gold rims on the top and a thicker 22k gold band on the bases. The bottom is clear.
Made by Lotus, many attribute this pattern to Culver. It was actually made by Lotus in the 1960s. (Culver did make an opaque black pattern that included gold oil derricks, but the pattern here was made by Lotus Glass Company.)
I've read that this design was used on the set of the TV show Dallas in the 1980s, but I can't verify whether it is true or not.
Each glass measures about 5-5/8" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter.
These glasses have a solid, heavy feel to them.
All of these glasses are used but in generally good condition. See pictures for details. Feel free to ask if you want more pictures.
Some of the glasses have more of the top gold rim left than others. Some also have scratches on the bottom gold band at the bottom.
No chips or cracks are visible.
Note: Mid-century glassware often has imperfections, i.e., tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc.
