Max & Alex FISCHERMax Fischer (1880-1957) - Alex Fischer (1881-1935)  Writers, novelists Max and Alex Fischer, two brothers, are 20th century French writers of Swiss origin who wrote humorous stories together.
Max (Maxime Chevalier Elieser Abraham) Fischer was born in Paris on May 10, 1880 and died on December 11, 1957 in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (Val-de-Marne).
Alex (Alex James Abraham Eliezer) Fischer was born at the same address on May 20, 1881 and died in Paris 16th on April 3, 1935
They were literary directors at Éditions Flammarion from 1904 and created the Select-Collection in 1914.
Max was also sub-prefect in Paris during the Purge.

Max FischerOf Swiss origin, he is the son of Mr. Jacques Fischer, scholarship holder, and of Mrs. Fischer, née Emma Rodriguez; he studied at the Collège Sainte-Barbe, at the Lycée Condorcet, then at the Paris Law School.
Become a man of letters, storyteller and novelist, playwright - with a humorous register - and journalist, he writes with his brother Alex many gay works, and contributes to the Gaulois, the Petit Journal and the Echo de Paris. It was from 1904 that the books of the Fischer brothers, which were successful without shine, are published by Flammarion.
Both are also collection directors, then literary directors at Flammarion. They set up there, among other things, the Select-Collection which was very successful, especially during the Great War. Books are cheap (0.50 F). Their role is to be in touch with writers, to recruit some for Flammarion, in addition to scrutinizing the funds of other houses to buy the rights to certain books.
This period of directorate extends from 1913 to 1928, May 27, 1928 to be precise, date on which a dispute opposes them - others rather evoke a quarrel with Ernest Flammarion and his sons, because the Fischer brothers \"Perceived particularly important rights\" -, which pushes Alex to withdraw, while Max, with the support of Ernest Flammarion, assumes only the direction of the house until 1940. Alex Fischer will sue for breach of contract, but will lose it.
With rare exceptions, Max Fischer will no longer write after 1928; later, after World War II, he became literary advisor, still at Flammarion.
On January 25, 1952, five years before his death, he married Nelly Caron-Mialaret, writer, musician and musicologist, who notably published two books with Flammarion.
He died at the age of 77 in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, leaving a son, Claude Fischer, born in 1930. Evocation of the FISCHER Brothers by Paul LEAUTAUDLiterary Journal Paul Leautaud 11 Mars 1920
“The brothers Max and Alex Fischer have taken it into their heads to have an article about them in the Mercure. They are readers at Flammarion. Bachelin is published by Flammarion. They told Bachelin about the matter. He, last Tuesday, the day before yesterday, spoke to Vallette about it, in a way which showed that he was aware of the Fischer\'s presumption and that he only spoke of it so that one could not say that he had done nothing in this direction. Impossible, naturally, the Fischers not having anything literary. As early as yesterday morning, Vallette, who had taken charge of the follow-up to the affair, sent a letter to the Fischers explaining to them that the thing was not possible. He meets them in the evening [at the Theater of] the Renaissance. The Fischers say hello to him and add: \"We received your kind letter, with a sour smile.\"
