Measuring 44" tall it is a statement piece for sure. Mid-century patinated brass (maybe bronze) sculptured
peacock form table lamp by the Markoff brothers of The Marbro Lamp
Company, circa 1950s. This artisan crafted lamp is mounted on an
ebonized base. Marbro marketed and sold to designers, Hollywood elite and the rich and famous in the Los Angeles area.
This lamp is marked on the base with 5 lines. 1's, I's, just tick marks? I dont know. The ornate slag glass shade is made by and marked Sarama Lighting and remains in excellent condition. I see no cracks or breaks. Maybe a tiny tiny fleck where a tab has worked its way under (see close up). This lamp does have a few condition issues. See the last 4 photos. While I do think the shade may be original to the piece, the post for the finial has likely been replaced and is much too long. It should be cut down or replaced. The shade ring fits perfectly in the lamp receiving tray and I can see where the finial used to make contact with the shade. The shade does stay firmly in place even without the finial or tensioning screws screwed in.
One of the tabs holding one panel of the 8 panel shade has worked its way under. Easy fix. I should have this fixed before shipping.
While both birds affix firmly to the base as is, they both have damage to the legs and should be repaired. The cap atop one of the light sockets is missing but can not be seen if the lamp has a shade. There are chips on the ebonized wood base.
Also, I was told that this is a BRONZE lamp. Maybe...............I am really not sure. Shipping will be for 2 packages with one containing just the shade.Any questions, just ask.
