Personal collection a World War era Columbia Sports Tourist. The condition on this Bike is one if the best ive seen on recent findings. I will do pro and cons so you have a fair an responsible description of this beauty. This is really hard to find and ive seen this bike go for thousands. My start offer is moderate and my buy it now is well below what this bike is known to go for.
Pro:
1) true War era Columbia RARE almost a unicorn in the bike world
2) color is original, all stickers and emblems are there
3) the Tires Holy cow, ok just the tires alone are IMPOSSIBLE to find and specially in these conditions which even have some of the original rubber hairs (flashing). I\'ve seen tires for this bike go for over $300 alone.
4) skip tooth drive with original chain and all functional gear
5) you know is era when all parts are black an the rear hub is coaster.
6) pedals are original (super rare)
7) has original vintage bicycle PA registration and CARLISLE PA plate.
8) Original wheels paint with striping cleaned.
9) no cracks or bad matks on frame or handle bar
10) original grips (mostly there) with some deterioration
CONS:
1)The handle bar has a gray spray paint over original enamel black. The black is there i was told that original enamel on these parts was cooked in oven so I should be able to rob off the gray paint. ( i just dont have what it takes to try i leave it to you)
2)The bike has a bit of retouch paint down by the crank i do not see any welding or repairs mark. Prior owner stated that the original owner (her grandpa) hated scratches. The paint matches almost seamlessly.
3) i don\'t believe the seat is original.
4) the rear fender had a dent amd was repair without ruining the paint see pictures.
The bike shows patina and age but serious collector know what a bike like this means and its values. I\'m selling most of my collection due to my age and lack of interest from my kids to keep it. I would love for it to go to a serious collector that can appreciate and value a true WAR ERA bicycle or even a museum.
