A very rare andobscure collection of Jewish folklore and legends, with the author incorrectly titled as a reverend on thetitle page, instead of correctly identified as a Rabbi — oops! Interesting Note on Errata: Author is in error labeled as a Reverend whenin fact Louis Weiss was a Rabbi. This was corrected in later editions.
Selections, with commentary, from the Talmud; translated andcompiled by Louis Weiss, rabbi for the congregation in Helena, Arkansas from1882-1884 (EJ 1906). “Louis Weiss, rabbi and scholar, was born on February 17,1848, in Kotay, Hungary. He received his rabbinical diploma from a school inGrosswardein, Hungary. Weiss immigrated to the United States and, in Chicago in1876, he became a naturalized U. S. Citizen. He served as rabbi for severalcongregations in the South and in Columbus, Ohio (1894); Hamilton, Ontario;Palestine, Texas (1903-1905) and Braddock, Pennsylvania (1905-1909). LouisWeiss died July 30, 1909.” (Louis Weiss Papers, American Jewish Archives).
