12.2 Kg Fabulous Calcite Specimen From Baluchistan Pakistan. For Sale

The Loralai District of Baluchistan, in Pakistan - now world famous for its fabulous array of Fluorite production - also produces several fascinating types of Calcite. Here's a substantial piece of the largest variety of scalenohedral or "dog-tooth" variety. Very distinctly different from the two smaller habits found here - both pale yellow and colorless to white. These larger crystals have a very strange, staggered growth pattern and they nearly always have inclusions of chlorite, clay or mud... but confined to one side, often giving them a greenish coloration. Likely, these grew on the side walls of the deposit. These inclusions interfere with the crystal growth in fascinating and unusual ways. As with other worldwide Calcite occurrences though, this deposit does rarely produce classic twinned crystals. Most often these magnificent "fish-tail" type twins. And this substantial 12.2 kg mass of crystals shows two of these twins, perfectly positioned to create an amazing example of the type. Most definitely a weighty showpiece for a serious Calcite collection.
