DURING THE THIRD ACT OF THE COMEDY \"OUR AMERICAN COUSIN\", JOHN WILKES BOOTH ENTERED THE PRESIDENTIAL BOX, STABBED RATHBONE AND SHOT LINCOLN. THE PRESIDENT WAS CARRIED FROM THE THEATRE TO THE NEARBY BOARDINGHOUSE OF WILLIAM PETERSON. IN A ROOM RENTED TO WILLIAM CLARK, LINCOLN DIED AT 7:22 AM, APRIL 15, 1865. WHEN HE DIED, SECRETARY OF WAR STANTON MADE HIS FAMOUS REMARK, \"NOW HE BELONGS TO THE AGES\". BOOTH DIED TWELVE DAYS AFTER HE KILLED THE PRESIDENT. BOOTH WAS TRACED TO RICHARD GARRETTS\' FARM NEW PORT ROYAL, VA. BOOTH SHOT HIMSELF WHEN HE WAS DISCOVERED HIDING IN A BARN. THE PHOTO SHOWS A PORTRAIT IMAGE OF JOHN WILKES BOOTH.
