VTG LARGE MORGAN SMITH’S INCLINE, NEVADA eagle belt buckle Native American :
$395.00

Sterling Silver Belt Buckle SMITH’S INCLINE, NEV. Horse Vintage. Morgan Smith- Smith\'s Incline Nev vintage sterling silver eagle- belt buckle The eagle is represented as a symbol that acts like a messenger to above. It signifies strength, courage, and wisdom. It is the connection between spirits and humanity. Native American engraving. Old time jeweler Reno-Tahoe area 30\'s to 80\'s. Life story will come with purchase. Morgan Garrison Smith appeared in Reno NV area in 1933 as a watchmaker-he left his wife, young son in New York with embezzled money from a family jewelry store to start a new life in 1937 he lived at 40 S Virginia- in 1941 he was married to a woman named Betty in 1933- they divorced in 1969-- and both doing jewelry work and lived at 43 W 1st State Hiway 6- 1959-64 they lived/worked at a couple of places at 28 E 2nd-where a Harrah\'s building is today - He was friends with Bill Harrah as well- Hiway 108- Roff Way apt.7....I am told there are 3-4 periods of his work- one just signed Morgan Smith - one Morgan Smith with a Native American with an anvil stamped- one Smith\'s Incline Nev with outline of NV stamped- and there is a Smith Enterprise with state of NV stamped, there is a question if Morgan owned or partnered with that one- He was around Reno/Tahoe area from early 30\'s til early 1980\'s for sure- he supervised Native American workers in silver and goldsmith work thru-out most of his career. That\'s what I have been told - by a private old collector from Reno area- some work is top of the mark in gold coin/gold inlay-overlay(which is hard to find) and silver engraved work, other common etching is not quite as good on some works. Morgan moved to Arizona to be with his sister and died in 1985 - His sister Dorthy lived (married into wealth) there in Tombstone, Arizona and she died in 2006- both were sent back to PoughkeepsieNew York to be buried at Smith family plot. Belt Buckle is 3\"½×2\"½ Buckle opening for belt measure approximately1\"⅝ weight 69.3grams great addition to your collection ❤️
