Description:
This phenomenal light fixture will certainlybring a touch of Spanish Revival into any room in which it hangs. Absolutely
wonderful craftsmanship, you can feel the edges of the hand blown and crackledglass where it has formed
into each section. I have never seen another lightthat has this type of glass. Yes, I have seen \"crackled glass\" inlight fixtures,
but not like this. The rough, raw edges of the glass where it is crackled and bows is absolutely amazing,
showing it\'s extremely old age.
Craquele glass was first invented in Venice during the sixteenth century whena newly
hand blown piece of glass that wasstill hot, came into contact withcold water. The cold causes the surface of the glass to form
cracks, yet at thesame timecauses the piece of glass to be solid without breaking. The timing ofexposure to the cold water,
and the reheating processmust be just right so theglass does not break from the rapid exposure of the two extreme
temperatures.Throughout the years, the glass artisans devised a method of reheating theglass to make the glass edges
much smoother to the touch. That is why you willnot often see glass that is like the glass in this fixture.
The deep carved wood is wonderful and gives the light fixture volume, depth, and girth, definitelya statement piece.
This Spanish Revival piece was designed as a ceiling light fixture what mighthang in a foyer, or entry way.
