RARE Antique Russian \"Virgin Mary & Infant Jesus\" Riza Icon For Sale

Offered for sale a AntiqueRussian Icon depicting The Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus. It isbeing sold \"as is\". The icon needs cleaning as it has attained over theyears smoke from candles and incense. It needs restoring (a light cleaningwith Q-Tip, light soap & water will remove most of the smoke patinaand bring out the radiant gold leafing work and vivid colors. We believeit is painted with with oil or tempura, gesso and gold leaf. The frame& riza, icon margins, crowns and halos are made out of unknown metal. The metalon both sides of the head are lettered with signature or title of the icon.Our photos are lighter than the actual item. The icon has suffered somescratching and craquelure which will need professional restoration. Thebacking is made of a torn & threaded damask cloth. The icon measures3/4 x 4 1/4 x 5 inches.
