I have been running one of these wheels in my 1080 without failure. In fact, my juke has never selected more perfectly since it left the factory nearly 80 years ago.
Please note, this may not be a “fix all” for your selection issue, however, if you have some selections that pick correctly, and some that do not, or some that pull two trays and break your expensive records, why not give it a try and replace this quick to change part? It is non invasive. Simple open the back of your machine, unscrew the old star wheel from the heart cam, (30435, also currently being produced by me!) Note the direction of the wheel and reinstall the new one exactly as the one one came off. It is IMPERATIVE to install the new one and the same direction as the old one came off. They will mount incorrectly with the teeth facing the wrong way. Make sure it is in the proper direction. For convenience, I will mark “OUT” on the face of the wheel that faces you as you’re working on it so there is little chance of this happening. Just be cognizant of the fact it can happen if you aren’t paying attention.
The “Star” Selector Wheel is exclusively for Wurlitzer 24 play jukeboxes and comes as a standalone part. You will reuse your two existing mounting screws. **IF YOU NEED SCREWS, PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I CAN SUPPLY YOU SOME! ** 😄
