Just unpacked the last eighty pipes from my extensive collection as I scale back for retirement. Just unpacked…..
Late 1980’s Ascorti Slant Bowl long shank Zulu (sometimes called Woodstock) in the craggy Business finish, handmade in Italy
Ascorti Business rustication is quite easy to spot, as is the fumed aesthetic sported by the rim of this handsome 1980’s-era Zulu. There's quite an old-school Italian panache to this fellow in fact, given the long shank and stylishly craggy finish with a black Italian acrylic stem. There's ample chamber within, and the condition is quite good, with only some minor rim darkening.
Ascorti is a recognized brand with three generations of Ascortis having captained the helm, currently Roberto and Antonio.
This is a delightful pipe, light weight at only 1.32 oz. And with the rusticated surface, it will smoke sweetly & dryly. Draft hole is center and a hair’s breadth above the bottom of the chamber. There is a wide-open draw. Passes a pipe cleaner easily.
Perfectly engineered tenon to mortise union is very sound & snug. Pipe does not accept a filter. Comes with a genuine leather pipe sleeve, as shown.
This pipe was bought new by me at the Tinder Box in KC MO.
