RARE Early Lot of (3) Actual, Original Large Antique 1926-31 Formal Sheriff's Docket Ledgers From a Court in New Hampshire
DESCRIPTION: Lot of (3) RARE Sheriff's Court Docket Ledgers loaded with entries. They cover dates from 1926 - -1931. About 5- 8 listings on each page. Each listing has the exact date, the name & residence of the "plaintiff", name of the attorney, cost and transportation cost, and disposition of the case. For the latter, took a car, cattle, etc. to pay fine. In the 3 volumes there are between 250 - 300 pages of cases, and at 5 per page, results in ROUGHLY 1500 CASES!!! Interesting reading and reference!!
Probably from a large town/city in New Hampshire. Many of the people being judged have put Berlin, Manchester, etc. for residence, so has to be from a NEW HAMPSHIRE Sheriff's office.
Some of the punishments are fascinating, and include such things as "attached Nash coupe, Cadillac coupe, Ford coupe, Essex sedan, a Victrola, 9 cows, 2 horses, specific itemized farm equipment, hay, Packard, motorcycle, car, and real estate, etc., etc....". Even one says "taken to prison"!!!
