View Larger Image   Folk Art Painted European Coffer, 19th Century.   Description: Large pine coffer, 19th century, with fairly crudely painted design of stylized flowers in panels on front, and to lid in the style of a marriage chest. Inside it has a candle box to the left side, and iron hinges and lock - the lock is a large complicated affair, and I have no key! Coffer is in very good used condition - very good interior, and nice naturally distressed paint work outside. I don’t know if the painting is original to it, but it certainly has some age. Lovely character decorator item and very, very useful.
